Pink Losses

pink discharge in women

You may experience pink vaginal discharge during your period or at other times during your menstrual cycle. At the onset of menstruation, blood mixes with cervical fluid as it exits the uterus, making your period look pink. This is usually nothing to worry about. This color can also be a sign of a number of different medical conditions, such as hormonal imbalance or infection. If in doubt, always consult a healthcare professional.

Causes of Dew Discharge

Pink discharge at the start and end of your period is normal. At this point, the blood just begins to flow or slows down. Coming out of the vagina, it can mix with other vaginal secretions like dried blood, which tones down its red color to a more pinkish tint. Therefore, it is completely normal to find pink discharge when wiping yourself, for example.

Another possibility is irregular menstrual cycles. Of the scanty periods, for example, may last less than two days and be pink in color, looking more like spotting than normal discharge. Weight fluctuations, age and stress can also make your irregular periods.

Hormonal imbalance like low estrogen can lead to pink discharge at different times in your cycle. This hormone contributes to the consolidation of the uterine lining. Without this hormone, the uterine lining can break down and come off irregularly resulting in vaginal discharge.

Pink Vaginal Discharge

Vaginal discharge occurs in all women because it is the only way for the uterus to secrete excess mucus. Pink discharge is usually harmless and often related to periods, hormonal fluctuations, or breakthrough bleeding. Small amounts of blood can then color the vaginal secretions to give them a pink color. However, if the color, smell, or consistency seems very different from usual, especially if you also have vaginal itching or burning, you may be dealing with an infection or other condition.
